The Ausbund 02:10
We cry out to you Tell you of our distress We are exiled from our home Work the land is all we know No longer can we see Your eternal treasury Gemeinschaft community Satan would not let us be He chased us away Granted no clemency "Stand off from this heresy" "This has led you astray" We refute his lies At the cost of our lives You will bring us to our land For those at your right hand
2.
We’re settled nomads Fidget in place Persecuted by both sides But we’ve found our space We’ve been able to put down roots in a soil not our own We’ve fed our families, worked our hands down to the bone We do not fight, we turn our cheeks as best we can Please leave us alone and we will work your land The spirit of Münster Long left behind The terrors beyond us We are not entwined We’ve spent so long in place and yet we are apart For centuries our culture unchanged from the start We hold our faith close in the face of enemies Non-violence is the path to everlasting peace. The world outside means us harm But here we can work our farms Rage and lust surround our fields Lord God to you…. We kneel
3.
Plagues, pestilence, war, anarchy Fall upon Memrik Colony We are no match for them Mahko’s anarchism Abandoned by civil war Alive by anothers whim They call us kulak The monsters who don’t attack Survivors are exiled I fear there’s no going back Either choice is death No one escapes unscathed We all must choose our sins Then live with the price we'll pay We must hold faith God still sees us too While our brothers fight or flee Is there a light shining through?
4.
Ash fills the midnight sky Say a prayer for those who’ve died Bandits approached my door They lie cold on the floor Please come, We must flee There's no future for me No blood across the door No sign we won't hurt more Why?

Canada 1926 04:27
We traveled our ancestor's path Across the roads and oceans wrath Arrived in port, complete in shock No torches here, so in we flock On this forest continent We wander with one intent Build houses, build families Build gardens and seek the peace The ink is dry, we're safe at last This massive place, choices are vast I could live inside this sprawl But I see your face, need to withdraw 49 by 83, that is good enough for me
7.
Exhausted, empty stores Isolated & nothing more Restarted so far behind The father doesn't seem to mind We lost our home, I lost my love Condemning silence from above The children cry their mothers name The rage inside stokes the flame Seventy acres, six tons of hay Nine animals to light the way The thorns have choked the life from me Consider me your wasted seed We lost our home I lost my love Condemning silence from above The children cry their mothers name The smell of death stokes the flame

The rolling hills are calling It feels like home Like I'm coming home It feels like home I am coming home

about

The debut full-length album from Domestikwom. A Peace That Destroys recounts the history of the artist's ancestors' immigration from Russia to Canada in light of the violence of the Russian Civil War and the challenges faced in their new home, in their own words. This record is thus both personal and, as it features guest contributions from friends and family, communal as well.
