When I was writing The Crushing Weight of Inertia, I tried out a slow and fast version of the intro riff, and although the slow version made more sense in that context, I really liked the fast version. So I took the fast version and made some changes to it, and then built this song around it. By the time it was done, that first riff only shows up near the beginning. Compositionally, I feel like this is a bit of a step up from the EP. Lyrically, it's a tribute to one of my all-time favourite characters in science fiction. - Jon
lyrics
Alone in exile
In a strange and unknown land
Behind their rows of smiling teeth
Cloying infection I can't stand
I used to control it all
Empires fell before me
Now I hem and sew
No escape that I can see
My wit which brought down governments
Spent finding leg measurements
Only relief is lunchtime banter
With the naive human doctor

Couch Slut is a rare band in the noise genre. Influenced by Sonic Youth, lo-fi black metal, and other genres, the lead singer screams over fragmented riffs. Amazing work. Jeff Holt

Heart breaking. It pulls you along an awful tale that only leaves you feeling worse. Haunts you afterwards and beckons you to play it again. Funeral Wizard
